Thanks to the collaboration between the different State Security Forces and Bodies and the Tax Agency, it was possible to carry out a joint operation between the National Police, the Civil Guard and Customs Surveillance, through which an organization of Colombian origin was detected that intended to establish a new route for the introduction of cocaine from South America to Europe. This criminal network tried to use the Port of El Musel as a new way of entry.
Once the ship was registered, 130 kg were intervened. cocaine, distributed in four perfectly packed bales. The substance apprehended was checked by means of an analysis carried out with the narcotest, yielding a positive result for cocaine. In the coming weeks, the corresponding laboratory tests will be carried out, presuming the researchers that the results will confirm that it is a highly pure substance.
The cooperation and coordination between the different institutions has been key to thwart the initiative of the drug traffickers, leaving the new route unused.
The detainee was hidden on the ship and provided with food and drink necessary for the crossing, perfectly equipped to guarantee the arrival of the cocaine to the Asturian coast. The system used allowed it to have the substance perfectly localized, even once it was thrown into the sea or transferred to another place.
Within the functions assigned to each Agency, the Civil Guard took charge of the narcotic substance, with the National Police being responsible for processing the various proceedings and making the detainee available to the competent judicial authority.
