The delegate of the Government in Asturias, Delia Losa, participated this morning in the Center for Local Technological Dynamization of Castropol in one of the presentations of ‘The Administration near you’, the plan of the Ministry of Territorial Policy to bring the services of the General Administration of the State to the less populated areas of the country.
“It is a fundamental plan to bring the Administration closer to the population, strengthen social and territorial cohesion, combat the digital divide and reinforce equal opportunities,” said Losa, stressing that the objective of the Government of Spain is “to guarantee the same services to the entire population regardless of their place of residence.”
The event was also attended by the Secretary General of Territorial Coordination of the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Myriam Álvarez, who explained that this plan is another example of the “commitment of the Government of Spain to the demographic challenge”. “We bet on a decentralized country model, and with the plan ‘The Administration near you’ we try to advance in the objective of the Government of Spain having more presence in the territory not only from the point of view of services, also in the visibility of the State,” said Álvarez.
The Secretary General of Territorial Coordination recalled that the Government of Spain has mobilized 4.2 billion euros to digitize and modernize public administrations to facilitate the relationship of the population with the administration. “The idea,” he announced, “is that in the short term the officials of the Government Delegation visit each council once a month to help neighbors make direct arrangements with the AGE and respond to their doubts and queries.”
Since November, staff of the Government Delegation have traveled 31 of the 48 councils that have between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants to inform their inhabitants about the public services they can access without travelling. They do so in the Local Technology Dynamization Centers, which according to Losa, “are the engines that serve as advice in day-to-day procedures.”
To this end, the ministry signed a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces to involve the municipalities in the program. “We thank the municipalities that convey the concerns and needs of the neighbors,” said the general director of the General Administration of the State in the Territory, Agustín Torres, who has also participated in an event that has also been attended by the president of the Asturian Federation of Councils, Cecilia Pérez, and the mayors of Castropol, Francisco Javier Vinjoy; San Tirso de Abres, Clemente Martínez; Taramundi, César Villabrille; and Vegadeo, César Álvarez.
Attendees of the sessions of this plan can learn about the services provided in the Government Delegation in Asturias and have the possibility to process the procedures they request at the time. In addition, the staff of the Government Delegation issues electronic certificates that allow digital identification for access to the electronic headquarters of the General State Administration, such as the Certificate of the National Currency and Stamp Factory or the Cl@ve.
