Teruel.- The presence and contribution of the Air and Space Army in international missions, together with the objective of the Ministry of Defense to modernize and improve the capabilities of our Armed Forces so that they have the best possible preparation, has given birth to a new project: the Comprehensive Air Training and Mobility Center (CIEMA) at Teruel airport.
A project that has been presented today in the Aragonese airfield where the institutional cooperation to achieve economic progress, territorial structuring, the generation of employment –some 350 foreseen– “and excellence for the formation of our Armed Forces” has been demonstrated, as indicated by the Secretary of State, Amparo Valcarce, who has accompanied the minister in this event.
This center will allow essential and priority training for pilots and personnel involved in air and transport deployments, evidencing that “our Armed Forces are a pride and an example where they are required,” said Robles. "Innovation, technology, economic development, quality employment and high qualifications… all this goes hand in hand with this project that strengthens the existing ties between the Ministry of Defense and Aragon," he added.
Technical aspects, such as aeronautics, security, availability of facilities and supply of services, in addition to its good weather and low air traffic density, have been key in the final decision to choose the location of Teruel for this new strategic center.
In addition to strengthening instruction and training in high-precision air operations, the centre will also be able to integrate new dual technologies and optimise interoperability with our European and NATO allies. The need for multi-domain operations makes the creation of CIEMA a decisive step in strengthening the new operational capabilities of the Armed Forces.
