Listen.- The Mining Museum of Listen will host until July 27 the exhibition ‘Just Transition: yesterday, today and tomorrow’, a photographic exhibition that makes visible the realities and experiences of the areas in the process of just transition. The official inauguration of the exhibition was attended by Enrique Gómez, deputy delegate of the Government in Teruel; Elisabeth López Orduna, agent of the territory in Aragón of the Just Transition Agreements, of the Energy City Foundation (CIUDEN); Juan Cañizares, manager of the Mining Museum of Escuchar; and the mayor of the town, Héctor García. All of them have highlighted “the importance of this initiative as a tool for raising awareness and territorial cohesion” within the framework of the energy transition.
The exhibition, composed of 26 photographic panels by the renowned photojournalist Eduardo Urdangaray, offers a human and close vision of the social, economic and environmental challenges facing the territories affected by the closure of industries linked to coal and other fossil sources. Through a participatory approach, the public is sought to reflect on the transformation of the productive model, the resilience of local communities and future opportunities.
In addition, as a complementary activity, visitors will be able to live the immersive experience ‘Turn on the Thermal’. It is a 15-minute virtual reality tour that allows you to know in 360 degrees the internal operation of a thermal power station, specifically the old thermal power station of Andorra, from the reception of coal to the inside of the cooling tower.
The exhibition is part of The Cultural Recycler, a project promoted by the CIUDEN Foundation, an entity dependent on the Institute for the Just Transition (ITJ) and the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). This innovative program is committed to cultural sustainability through the reuse and reactivation of exhibition content, promoting its circulation and adaptability to new spaces and public.
The exhibition arrives in the Turolense town after a national itinerary that began on March 31, 2023 in Ponferrada. The exhibition has also gone through San Martín del Rey Aurelio (Asturias), Valle del Guadiato (Córdoba), As Pontes de García Rodríguez (A Coruña), Velilla del Río Carrión (Palencia), La Robla (León) and Andorra Sierra de Arcos (Teruel).
