Zaragoza.- The Government Delegation in Aragón has delivered diplomas this morning to ten members of the National Police and nine agents of the Civil Guard, who have participated in recent months in the talks of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of School Security in schools and their environments. A program of the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior that promotes among young people values of respect, equality and responsibility, as well as the prevention of Internet risks, bullying, gender violence and drug use.
The Plan has reached more than 65,000 students throughout the Community during the school year, mainly in Primary and ESO, although applications for Children and Baccalaureate have also been met; training has also been offered, by the agents, to more than 1,200 parents, and to 200 teachers. In total, the Civil Guard has given 427 talks in the province of Zaragoza, and the National Police has given 1,316 between the city of Zaragoza and Calatayud.
The acceptance of this initiative has grown considerably since its launch in 2007. If in 2009 the agents gave just over half a hundred lectures in the province of Zaragoza, the figure has now multiplied fourfold between the two State Security Forces and Corps. The delegate has described this Plan as “very successful”, both because of the figures and because “prevention elements are taught about very important aspects, and children are familiarized with the State Security Forces and Bodies so that they know that in their agents they will always find help in case they need it.”
With these diplomas, the delegate assured, it is recognized “the enormous work that the speakers do to bring to the educational centers throughout the territory values that contribute to improve security”.
In addition to the Government delegate, Fernando Beltrán, the Subdelegate of Government in Zaragoza, Noelia Herrero, the Superior Chief of Police of Aragón, Florentino Marín, and the Interior Colonel of the Area of the Civil Guard of Aragón, Francisco Javier Blanco, participated in the ceremony to hand over diplomas.
Almost two decades of history
The initiative began in 2007 and is already permanent in nature. Throughout these years, it has been possible to make young people and minors aware of the work carried out by the Civil Guard and the National Police and to be aware of the police resources available to them to prevent and report bad behavior in their study centers and environments.
The theme of the talks focuses on the security problems that affect young people as a group, paying special attention to aspects such as bullying in schools, prevention against the risks derived from drug and alcohol consumption, as well as problems related to youth gangs, incívics and vandals, racism, xenophobia and intolerance. They also offer other sessions on Gender Violence or discrimination based on sex or sexual orientation. Without forgetting, the prevention of security risks associated with new technologies and the use of social networks.
