The subdelegate of the Government in Huesca, Carlos Campo, together with the lieutenant colonel of the Command of the Civil Guard in Huesca, José Enrique Cordobés, has held a meeting with leaders of the agricultural organizations ASAJA, UAGA and UPA in order to analyze the situation of security in the field and the farms.
At the meeting, convened at the initiative of ASAJA, the subdelegate explained the continued decline in farm and livestock subtractions since the measures to both prevent and clarify these crimes were strengthened in 2021. Thus, since that year, this criminal typology has fallen by 20% in the province of Huesca, with a year-on-year variation in the last fiscal year (from 2023 to 2024) of -10%.
Carlos Campo has thanked the Civil Guard for its constant work in the territory, as well as the work of awareness that the organizations carry out among their affiliates, in order to reinforce both the prevention and the protocols of action before a subtraction.
“Everyone is succeeding in bending the curve of robberies on farms, a phenomenon that generated special alarm in 2021 by the activity of itinerant gangs,” said Campo. The deputy delegate insisted that, in any case, “we will remain attentive to the concerns of the sector in this matter and continue working together to give greater tranquility to farmers and ranchers.”
In this sense, the agricultural organizations, which have been represented by José Fernando Luna (ASAJA), Jesús Ballarín (UAGA) and Javier Arnal (UPA), have proposed the creation of an information exchange group with the Civil Guard, in order to detect areas of risk in the territory. They have also proposed measures to speed up telematic complaints and to install video surveillance in sites owned by the irrigation communities, two issues that the subdelegate has promised to transfer to the corresponding bodies.
