The Government Delegation in Aragon today celebrated the inauguration of the Subdelegate of the Government in Zaragoza, Noelia Herrero Arenas and the Secretary General of the Delegation, Jorge Juan Pastor. Both, with extensive experience in the public sector, have highlighted their deep vocation of service and have thanked the work of the team of the institution.
Noelia Herrero Arenas is the first woman to hold the position of Subdelegate of the Government in Zaragoza. In his speech he noted his commitment to the province and expressed his admiration for “the quiet task” of mayors and councilors “that rarely makes headlines but is tremendously necessary and rewarding.” Herrero is committed to “continue working on the advancement of infrastructure, maintaining security in our towns and cities and boosting culture” among other areas of its competence. The Subdelegate highlighted in her speech some of the strategic projects for the province of Zaragoza promoted by the Government of Spain such as the N-232, the A-68, the Algeciras-Zaragoza railway highway or “the millionaire PERTEs for the automotive sector that put the red carpet to the battery gigafactory”.
The Subdelegate of the Government in Zaragoza has marked in the fight for equality another of its lines of action, pointing out that “equality is education, it is transformation, it is justice. And it is also to protect the lives of women”, he indicated that “male violence is a State problem and, in recent years, we are seeing with great concern how some political forces are calling it into question” and added that in this issue the Subdelegation will not take a step backwards and will persevere in its struggle. Noelia Herrero recalled that she was able to study medicine thanks to a scholarship and that way she understood that “we are not all born equal, but we can become equal” and stressed her commitment to social and progeist policies.
Noelia Herrero Arenas was born in Teruel in 1981 and holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Zaragoza, a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a PhD in Health Sciences, Physical Activity and Sport from UCAM. In addition, he has the title of Specialist in Accounting and Audit of Territorial Public Administrations and Master in Health Management. Until her appointment as a subdelegate, she served as Medical Assistant Director of the Royo Villanova University Hospital in Zaragoza. She has previously served as acting director of the Child Care Center and Services Inspector of the Department of Finance and Public Administration of the Government of Aragon. She has participated as a member of different courts and commissions in the health field and as a researcher of a randomized multicentric study.
The Secretary General of the Delegation, Jorge Juan Pastor, who held the post of Subdelegate of the Government in Zaragoza until January of this year, has thanked the confidence and support of the Delegate of the Government in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, who has been given as an example in the “construction of a cathedral of rights and freedoms called Spain”. Pastor has pointed out that he will work for a Spain that “makes citizens free and equal in rights” and in the construction of a society in which we are all “women without hats and in which the girls are without complexes, without guilt and without fears”.
Jorge Juan Pastor Pérez (Zaragoza, 1977) is a Doctor of Industrial Engineering from the University of Zaragoza and an expert in robotics and computer vision. He has developed his professional career in the field of education and research as a high school and university professor and has also been provincial secretary of Education, Culture and Sport and advisor of Strategic Projects of the Government of Aragon.
