A total of 19,220 attendees participated during the academic year 2023-2024 in the talks of the Plan for School Coexistence and Security, a program of the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior that promotes among young people values of respect, equality and responsibility, as well as the prevention of Internet risks, bullying, gender violence and the consumption of alcohol and drugs.
This figure, as highlighted by the deputy delegate of the Government in Huesca, Carlos Campo, “is the highest in our province since this program was implemented in 2007, a milestone that has been possible thanks to the involvement of both the Security Forces and Bodies and the educational communities”.
In order to make visible and emphasize the importance of this collaboration, the Subdelegation, in collaboration with the City Council of Almudévar, has organized a joint act of awarding diplomas to the laying agents of the Civil Guard and the National Police in the Public School Santos Samper. There, it was the boys and girls themselves who, for the first time, gave the accreditations to the agents who throughout this course gave talks in the province.
The event was attended by the National Police Commissioner in Huesca, Fernando Ascaso, and the lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard Command in Huesca, Enrique Cordobés.
Plan Balance
The participation during the 2023-2024 academic year in the Plan was 19,220 attendees, among students (18,393), AMYPAs (191) and the educational community (336). Agents of the National Police and the Civil Guard have given 475 talks throughout the province, in public and concerted schools and institutes. These figures represent a significant increase compared to the previous year, with 82 more talks (+20%) and 8,122 more attendees (+73%).
By topics, the most requested and taught was, as has been the case for several editions of the Plan, Internet risks (163 sessions), followed by school bullying (90), gender violence (72) and drugs (46).
Work “fundamental”
The deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in Huesca, Carlos Campo, stressed that the significant increase in participants in the Master Plan “demonstrates the interest and usefulness that this program has for students, parents and teachers.” Campo has valued as “fundamental” the task of raising awareness among young people developed by the State Security Forces and Corps. He also thanked the “enormous commitment” of the agents, who have adapted in many cases to the specific demand of the schools in terms of themes and approaches.
Since 2007
In 2007, the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of Spain launched this Master Plan with the aim of helping to train minors and young people in respect for fundamental rights and freedoms and in the values of dignity and equality between men and women. It also aims to make them aware of the risks associated with drug use and the need to eradicate violent behaviour in schools and to explain to them what police work and activity consists of and how they can count on their help.
The Plan, which is already permanent in nature, has among its objectives the improvement of coexistence and security in the centres. Therefore, we are working to make young people and minors aware of the work carried out by the Civil Guard and the National Police and to be aware of the police resources available to them to prevent and report bad behavior in their environments.
