Aragonese exports represent, according to data for the month of January, 1,329.1 million euros, which implies a growth of 8% compared to the same period of the previous year, and an increase of 6.4% compared to the month of December. The report, prepared by the Territorial Directorate of Trade-ICEX in Aragon of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, with data provided by the Customs Department of the AEAT, also shows that at the beginning of 2023 the total imports amount to 1,143.9 million euros, amounting to 15.1% compared to the previous year, but decreased by 8.5% intermonthly.
The commercial balance in this period has a surplus of 185.2 million euros. The coverage rate stands at 116.2%. Aragonese exports accounted for 4.3% of total Spanish exports in the month of January 2023.
Throughout Spain, exports in January grew by 16.2% year-on-year to 30.921 million, a record high this month. The trade deficit is reduced by about 40% compared to January 2022.
The main sectors that in Aragon contributed to the growth of exports in Aragon came from the automotive sector; food, beverages and tobacco; equipment and durable consumer goods. The sectors that contributed negatively were the non-chemical semi-manufactures and chemical products sector. In terms of imports, the sectors that contributed positively were mainly equipment, food, beverages and tobacco and durable consumer goods. Those who contributed negatively were the consumer manufacturing sector, chemicals, automobiles and raw materas.
Exports to third parties
The European Union remains the main destination for Aragonese exports, accounting for 69.2% of the total, increasing by 14.9% compared to the previous year. Of the main partners, the increases in sales to Italy (46.4%) and Germany (17.2%) stand out. Exports to third countries account for 30.8% of the total, increasing only to the regions of the Middle East and Africa. Among other countries, there were positive increases in Argentina (322.8%), Nigeria (114.2%) and Singapore (72.6%).
