The number of beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) in Andalusia amounts to 520,290 who reside in 176,256 households, according to the latest statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security until the end of February. Throughout the national territory, the number of beneficiaries totals 1,633,474, who live in 576,097 households.
This benefit, which is paid by the Social Security, is having a special impact on the reduction of child poverty since of the total beneficiaries in Andalusia 42.4% are minors (220,668). In addition, if we consider the number of households, in 74.4% there is at least one minor (131,270).
According to these data, in the majority of Andalusian households a woman is the holder of the benefit, being 71.7% (126,455), and, if the total number of beneficiaries is taken into account, 53.9% are women, 280,632 compared to 239,581 men.
Regarding the number of benefits with the Child Support Supplement (CAPI), there are already 107,441 in Andalusia. The ICSC, which entered into force in January 2022, is an aid of 115 euros per household per month for children from 0 to 3 years old; of 80.5 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years old and of 57.5 euros per month for each child between 6 and 18 years old.
To publicize this benefit and expand its scope, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration continues to tour the country with the IMV information bus, whose objective is to serve vulnerable people, potential beneficiaries of the benefit, who have not requested it.
In the first stage of its tour, the bus has stopped in 29 municipalities and districts of 10 autonomous communities and plans to reach 40. For the moment in Andalusia it has reached Seville, Cordoba, Huelva, Cadiz and Linares (Jaén).
Regarding the profile of the people served by the bus, it is noted that 67% are women, and 54% had applied for the benefit previously. Among those who had already requested the IMV, 49% were in the process and, among those who had not requested it, 36% was due to ignorance and 32% explained that it was because they thought they did not meet the requirements.
On the motivation of the people who have approached the bus, 71% did so to request information, 24% to resolve doubts and 3% to be accompanied in the processing.
Entry into force of the employment incentive
With the beginning of the year 2023, the employment incentive came into force, which reinforces the set of policies that make up the IMV and which is oriented to the beneficiary that enters the labor market or increases the number of hours of employment, in the case that he is already working, is guaranteed that his disposable income is higher than what he would have had without incentive, with an increase that is diminishing as labor returns increase. The incentive is calculated ex officio when the IMV is reviewed, in the event that there are changes in the income of the recipient's work.
