The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, received this morning at the headquarters of the Delegation the students participating in the Erasmus+ program of the IES Miguel Fernández, in collaboration with the Collège André-Chamson, of Montpellier (France).
A total of 14 ESO 2nd, 3rd and 4th ESO students from the French centre are in Melilla this week as part of an educational exchange linked to the ecological project of IES Miguel Fernández, ‘Green Life’, which aims to share experiences among young people of similar ages and promote environmental awareness, cooperation and critical reflection on global challenges.
During their stay, French students live with Melillense students and participate in educational, linguistic and environmental activities that address issues such as climate change, sustainability and respect for the natural environment.
Throughout the week, the students have participated in formations and workshops, some of them organized in collaboration with associations such as Guelaya Ecologistas en Acción, with whom they carried out, yesterday afternoon, a tree replanting activity. From the educational center they wanted to convey their gratitude to the environmental entity for its constant collaboration in the educational projects they promote.
The students will continue their stay with a program of activities that includes a kayak route along the Melillense coast, a visit to the Caves of the Conventico and a walk through natural areas of the city, thus strengthening direct contact with the environment.
During the meeting, the Delegate spoke with the young people, taking an interest in their experience and the impressions they take from the city. He has also encouraged the Melillense students who will soon travel to France in a week to continue this exchange, highlighting the richness of this type of formative experiences.
Sabrina Moh has highlighted the relevance of the Erasmus+ program as tools for intercultural learning, personal development and education in values, especially in a city like Melilla, characterized by its diversity.
“Melilla is a multicultural, open and hospitable city. These exchanges not only enrich students, but also reinforce our commitment to quality public education, open to the world and with an international perspective,” he said.
In addition, he stressed that “these programs build bridges between cultures, reinforce mutual learning and foster a critical and committed awareness among our young people.”
The Erasmus+ programme continues to be consolidated as a key educational opportunity for thousands of students throughout Europe, connecting students from different countries around common projects and promoting active citizenship, solidarity and commitment to the great challenges of the present.
