The police forces operating in Navarre last year recorded 35,866 criminal offenses, 2.2 percent more than in 2023. In this way, the crime rate of the last twelve months decreased compared to the previous quarter (53.2) and stood in the Foral Community at 52.9 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, 2.3 points above the national average.
They are data of Balance of Criminality published by the Ministry of the Interior and which reflects the evolution of crime in Spain recorded in 2024 by the State Security Corps (National Police and Civil Guard), the Security Corps dependent on the Autonomous Communities (Ertzaintza, Mossos d'Esquadra and Foral Police of Navarra), and also by those Local Police Corps that provide data to the State Security Forces and Corps.
Last year, wilful homicides and consummate murders fell by 33.3% (from 6 to 4), while wilful homicides and attempted murders fell by 31.3% (from 32 to 22). Theft also fell by 4.4% (from 8,661 to 8,276). In addition, burglaries in homes, establishments and other facilities decreased by 2.9% (from 1,508 to 1,464), although burglaries in homes increased by 3.7% (from 1,034 to 1,072).
In 2024, no kidnappings were recorded, as in the previous year. And the number of robberies with violence and intimidation (from 467 to 471) remained unchanged at 0.9%.
On the other hand, there was a 43% increase in crimes known for drug trafficking (from 158 to 226). The increase was 28.4% in the case of serious and less serious crimes of injury and tumultuous squabbling (from 380 to 488). While crimes against sexual freedom grew by 16.7% (from 412 to 481). Within this point, sexual assault with penetration decreased by 12.3% (from 81 to 71), while the rest of crimes against sexual freedom increased by 23.9% (from 331 to 410).
On the other hand, vehicle subtractions increased by 9.7% (from 154 to 169).
In this way, conventional crime increased last year by 4.5%. On the other hand, cybercrime fell by 6.4%. Thus, computer scams decreased by 7.3% (from 6,576 to 6,095), while the rest of known cybercrimes increased slightly (from 899 to 901, 0.2%).
Breakdown by municipality
The Crime Balance shows the breakdown of municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants:
- In the Egüés/Eguesibar Valley, the number of criminal offences fell by 3.9% (from 726 to 698). The crime rate is 31.1 criminal offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
- In Pamplona/Iruña, criminal offences increased slightly by 0.6% (from 11,957 to 11,803). The crime rate is 74.5.
- In Tudela, they increased by 12.7% (from 2,563 to 2,888 criminal offences). The crime rate is 74.7.
- In Burlada/Burlata, the number of criminal offences increased by 13.6% from 670 to 761, with a crime rate of 36.1 offences per 1,000 inhabitants
