The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has reported that Melilla has already executed more than 25 million euros of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) “that have reached the companies and homes of the city, that is, the real economy of our city”.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has referred to the real impact of this important Plan that translates into improvements for the citizens of Melilla. Thus, it has valued the 1.4 million euros executed for the construction of 48 homes for social rent, the 900,000 euros for the rehabilitation of neighborhoods that benefit 62 homes, or the 1.3 million euros destined for self-consumption and residential storage.
Moh has also highlighted the 3.8 million euros that have been allocated for the rehabilitation of buildings in Melilla or the 700,000 euros of the Moves III program of incentives for electric mobility.
Other figures to which the Delegate referred are the 7.2 million euros destined for Melilla linked to the Low Emissions Area Plan or the 3 million euros for Tourism Sustainability Plans, among others.
The head of the Government Delegation also referred to the positive impact that the PRTR is having in terms of employment and inclusion, thus highlighting the almost 3 million euros that our city is using in the personalized itineraries of orientation, training and insertion to women in the digital and ecological fields, of long-term care and entrepreneurship or the 3.6 million euros of the program First professional experience in Public Administrations in Melilla.
European funds
As Moh recalled, the European Council approved in 2020 the creation of the NextGenerationEU program, “the largest economic stimulus instrument ever financed by the European Union, in response to the crisis caused by the coronavirus, with an unprecedented investment of 750 billion euros”.
“President Pedro Sánchez played a decisive role in the creation and negotiation of these funds that are being very beneficial both for our country and for our city,” he said and recalled that as a mechanism to receive and manage these funds, the Spanish Government created the Recovery Plan.
This Plan, he added, “will contribute to greater social and territorial cohesion, reducing inequalities”, and has assured that “it is a tool to make Melilla and Spain a prosperous territory, productive and of opportunities”.
