The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 179 anniversary of the foundation of the Civil Guard, has highlighted the good work of the women and men of this institution: “You have worked throughout this time with a sensitivity, humanity and professionalism that have made your legacy last for so many years.”
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has stressed that the Benemérita “is a clear example of commitment to public service, professional dedication, boundless dedication and a spirit of sacrifice”. Therefore, on behalf of the Executive of the Nation, the Minister of the Interior and on his own behalf, he has greeted the professionals who make up this institution for the work they do in any of your facets.
Moh has pointed out that the past of the Civil Guard “is one of your greatest treasures” and, therefore, “we must remember it, preserve it and value it”. Something, he added, “that you do day by day while still looking to the future, so I want to take this opportunity to express to you, once again my appreciation for your commitment, dedication, responsibility and professionalism.”
In her address, the Delegate explained that, if the Duke of Ahumada created this body 179 years ago, it has been 130 years since the Civil Guard served in Melilla “making clear your motto: honor is my motto”.
An institution, he added, is maintained over time since “from your foundation to our days, you have been able to evolve without losing your original spirit. And, in that continuous adaptation, you have not lost the nature, the essence and the values that the Duke of Ahumada conceived for you.”
At this point, he has highlighted the honor, the fairness between compliance with the laws, the humanitarian spirit, prudence, the exemplary behavior inside and outside the service and the repudiation of any form of corruption, as well as the vocation of service.
Some principles, he has made clear, “give meaning and transcendence to your work, a work that began in 1844 and that thanks to all those who have honored and honored the uniform is still more alive than ever.” “I know that ensuring the security, rights and freedoms of citizens implies that vocation of service that you always show and that should be recognized and thanked,” she said.
“You, Civil Guards of the 21st Century, are heirs and transmitters of a tradition that has remained intact with the passage of time, a tradition that is not incompatible with your continuous evolution, but what it does is highlight your effectiveness, a tradition forged on the basis of the principles that its founder imprinted indelibly to the Institute,” he said.
Excellent image
In her speech, the head of the Government Delegation thanked the men and women of the Benemérita for making it possible for citizens to exercise their rights, be free and feel safe, but also congratulated them on the achievements obtained in the different missions assigned to them in the Melilla Command.
A work, he added, that “results in the positive assessment of all citizens as a whole and that contributes, to a large extent, to create the excellent image that the Civil Guard has both inside and outside our borders.”
At this point, Moh has been convinced that the professionals of the Civil Guard will continue to be willing to respond to the different scenarios that arise, and that they will continue “turning the great challenges into your own goals and that you will continue to focus on an improvement of public services that continues to contribute to the achievement of an increasingly fair and egalitarian Spain, more plural and diverse, more secure and free”. One Spain, has apostilled “of all and for all” and all this, he added, “developing your work and preserving the Honor as the main currency”.
Moh, who has reiterated his support for the Civil Guard, has urged them to continue on this path, “to continue promoting and persevering in the Benevolent Spirit of the body as a fundamental pillar to continue advancing in that vocation of service to the whole society.” And in this task you will always count on my support.
The Delegate has had words of remembrance for all those civil guards who gave their lives in the act of service as well as those who have died during this last year and has transferred their love to their relatives and loved ones. “His memory will always remain indelible in the memory of the Civil Guard,” he said.
He also congratulated all of this year’s laureates for the “just and deserved recognition of work”, which he described as an example to society. And, also, he has dedicated a few words to those who have gone into the situation of reservation or withdrawal, to those who have wished them to enjoy the well-deserved rest after a life of dedication, service and dedication.
