15 new trainee officers, belonging to the Corps of Assistants, have joined the Melilla Penitentiary Centre.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, who came this morning to the Penitentiary Center to welcome them and convey her best wishes for this stage, has highlighted the important reinforcement that they represent so that the staff can do their work in better conditions.
This reinforcement will also result in better care for the prison population and, therefore, in the social reintegration of inmates, which is the ultimate objective of the penitentiary institution.
The new officials are part of the public employment calls of 2021 and 2022, which are composed of 1,850 people. 15 of them - eight women and seven men - have joined the Melilla Penitentiary Centre in March, after completing a selective course where they have acquired the technical skills necessary for a progressive professional integration to carry out their training stage after joining the network of training centres.
It is expected that, during the next two months, they will complete the first phase of theory and improvement, which will end on May 23. On that day they will undergo a training examination and, if they pass it, they will continue their internship period until their career appointment, which will take place within a maximum period of 18 months.
After congratulating them on completing their initial training, the Delegate wished them the greatest success in this new phase that they have begun and was convinced that their stay will be very rewarding in Melilla, due to the beauty of the city and how welcoming the citizens of Melilla are.
The arrival of the new assistants represents a significant increase, which will greatly help to carry out the work entrusted to them and which should have a positive impact on the re-education and better care of the prison population, which currently consists of 177 inmates.
