Ourense, July 10, 2023.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, has held a working meeting to supervise the logistical planning of the subdelegation of the Government for the general elections of July 23 in which 355,771 citizens will participate to exercise their right to vote. The meeting was held in the subdelegation and was attended by the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, Manuel Arias.
Emilio González reviewed the allocation to the 539 tables of the province through the 92 municipalities that compose it: the security of all phases of the process, the provision of material resources, the transmission of the official information of opening and closing the tables, participation, the scrutiny and the transmission of the results by the Representatives of the Administration.
The deputy delegate recalled that the human detachment carried out by the subdelegation in the province is crucial for the optimal development of the electoral process. From the necessary logistical support for the vote to the transmission of participation and scrutiny data on Election Day. In these elections, the subdelegate recalled that one of the tasks carried out by the subdelegation is to provide more than 4.5 million ballot papers for the 11 candidacies presented to the Congress of Deputies and 462,000 ballot papers for the candidacies to the Senate to all the municipalities of the province. These works will begin to be executed from tomorrow until next Monday at the headquarters of the subdelegation itself.
103,000 residents abroad will vote for the first time with no vote requested
González has pointed out that 103,000 Ourensans residing abroad will vote for the first time without having to submit a prior application when the requested vote is suppressed. These people will receive at home through the INE, and in coordination with the Government Subdelegation, the necessary documentation to vote by certified mail or to deposit it in the authorized places in the countries of destination. Likewise, 55,000 ballot papers were sent from the Subdelegation through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foreign countries for the citizens of Ourense who vote in embassies.
In these elections, it is expected that the subdelegation will mobilize 421 representatives of the Administration throughout the province, 86 of them in the capital, who, among other functions, will attend the polling stations and will be responsible for collecting the participation and scrutiny data.
In addition, throughout that day, in the subdelegation of the Government there will be qualified personnel to resolve any incident that may arise with the representatives, the councils, the constitution of the tables or the material, in collaboration with the Electoral Boards.
Almost all the staff of the sub-delegation will participate in the pre-election and electoral process development operation. Prior to the day of the elections, activities will be carried out such as: consulting municipalities for needs and replenishment of material, distribution of necessary material for which a device will be made with voluntary officials who will take the material to the 539 tables distributed in the 410 electoral colleges throughout the province.

The number of requests to vote by mail has also increased significantly compared to the 2019 general election. As of July 7, 15,500 citizens of the province have requested to vote by mail. More than 6,000 people more than in the previous elections in which around 9,000 Ourensanos made use of this option.
Seven requests for braille ballot papers for blind or visually impaired people have also been met in the municipalities of Ourense, Barbadás and Amoeiro.
