The government delegate presides over the ceremony to pay tribute to the Extremadura victims of terrorism in the National Police
The National Police has held an event on Thursday for the Day of the Victims of Terrorism that has been presided over by the government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, and by the Superior Chief of Police of Extremadura, Elisa Fariñas.
In his speech, Quintana recalled that “terrorism wanted to sow fear, division and destruction, but the courage and professionalism of the State Security Forces and Corps, together with the unity of the Spanish people, demonstrated that peace and justice are stronger than any threat.” Likewise, the government delegate has defended that this type of act “is a testimony of the respect and recognition that all those who suffered the unreason of terrorism deserve. It is also a reaffirmation of our commitment to continue fighting against any form of violence and to build a Spain where coexistence and respect are the fundamental pillar.”
Between 1968 and 2015, one hundred and eighty-eight national police officers were killed (13 of them were from Extremadura) and many others were injured, at the hands of the various terrorist organizations that tried to impose their demands in our country through violence.
