October 13, 2023.- The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration is going to launch, in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Valladolid and Accem, a pilot project of regular, orderly and safe migration through complementary labor mobility channels through which more than a hundred people, of Nicaraguan origin with needs of international protection in Costa Rica, are going to be resettled in Valladolid.
This pilot project has its origin in the agreement of the Council of Ministers of May 2023, which approved the extension of the National Program of Resettlement of Refugees in Spain and opened the possibility of resettling people who had a job offer made by a Spanish company.
For this first program, a group of families has been pre-selected, the majority of 3 and 4 members, to whom they will offer employment contracts. The contracts are all in the renewable energy sector, in the province of Valladolid, specifically in the area of Navabuena. These people have been pre-selected in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), through the offices of these agencies in Costa Rica.
For the reception and first installation of these people on their arrival in Spain, an accompaniment program will be established from the Secretariat of State for Migration, which will consist of actions to help the search for housing and access to education and health.
This program will be developed by Accem in collaboration with the Diputación de Valladolid and several municipalities in the province, including Medina de Río Seco, Villanubla and Cigales. In particular, the Provincial Council of Valladolid will be responsible for monitoring families through the CEAS, in addition to making available to the people hosted both complementary training programs and the different means of aid and subsidies established from the Area of Social Services and Equal Opportunities.
