Toledo, November 6, 2024.- The Government of Spain has approved the direct granting of grants to singular cultural entities and institutions, with a total amount for Castilla-La Mancha of 530,000 euros, including 400,000 euros for the archaeological site of the Vega Baja in Toledo.
The delegate of the Government, Milagros Tolón, has highlighted the sensitivity of the Central Executive “that fulfills its commitments, constantly supports the cultural work that is carried out in our region and enhances the recovery of our historical heritage as a sign of identity of Castilla-La Mancha”.
In the case of Vega Baja, 400,000 euros are granted to the Toledo City Council “for the recovery and musealization of the archaeological site”, complying with the agreement signed in 2021 between the Minister of Culture, Miquel Iceta; the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page; and Milagros Tolón herself, then mayor of Toledo. Under this agreement, the administrations commit themselves to carry out the actions for the protection and enhancement of this space.
“It is a space of singular relevance for the history and cultural heritage of the city of Toledo that must be studied and preserved in order to continue to make known its historical importance, so it is considered necessary to grant this grant to be able to continue with the study and knowledge of the site; and most importantly, with its preservation and value to the whole society,” the resolution states.

These grants contribute to advancing the policy objectives pursued by the Ministry of Culture, fully aligning with the Department ' s Strategic Grant Plan for the period 2024-2026, thus clearly contributing to the Government ' s cultural development objectives.
