The new Chief of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade of the Superior Police Headquarters of Cantabria, Commissioner Dª Carolina Chaves Marcuello from Zaragoza, has extensive professional experience. Since joining the National Police in 1986 on the Executive Scale, most of her professional career has been carried out in operational destinations of responsibility. Going from the fight against terrorism to the protection of the high authorities of the State, or with tasks related to the protection of authorities, dynamic and static protection, battered women, protection of minors in distress, control of public establishments or the gambling sector.
The curator, Ms. Carolina Chaves Marcuello, holds a degree in Magisterium, a degree in Police Sciences, and also in Education Sciences, as well as a Master’s degree in Strategic Management of Public Security.
In addition, it has several decorations, such as two Crosses with white badge to Police Merit; the Cross with white badge of the Civil Guard; Silver Medal to Professional Merit of the City of Zaragoza, among other institutional decorations.
Likewise, the Commissioner was part of the first promotion of inspectors of the National Police in which university diplomacy was required, being also the first woman who carried out the course of combat diving in the Navy and the first woman who presided over a bullfight in the bullring of Zaragoza.
At 10:00 a.m. today, the official act of the inauguration of the new Chief of the Provincial Brigade for Citizen Security, Commissioner Dª Carolina Chaves Marcuello, took place at the headquarters of the Superior Police Headquarters of Cantabria, which has been presided over by the Delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Mrs. Eugenia Gómez de Diego and the Superior Police Chief of Cantabria, Mrs. Carmen Martínez Ruiz.
The event was attended by the Regional Chief of Operations, the Chief of the Local Commissariat of Torrelavega, the Secretary General of the Higher Police Headquarters of Cantabria, Chiefs of Provincial Brigades and Local Brigades, as well as other police officers of this Headquarters.
The event began with the Senior Chief of Police of Cantabria, Mrs. Carmen Martínez Ruiz, congratulating the Commissioner for her promotion and her new destination, welcoming the attendees and stressing that: “For this Superior Headquarters it is very important to have the cadre of commanders, and especially, in a position as relevant as that of Chief of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade in which citizen security, crime prevention devices and the immediate reaction of the radio patrols are pivoted day by day, being also the largest brigade in force, since it provides 24x7 service, as well as the custody of detainees, and the dynamic and static protection of personalities and buildings.”
Subsequently, the new Chief of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade, Commissioner Dª Carolina Chaves Marcuello, took the floor expressing that she assumes her new role with enthusiasm, and that she will perform it with the responsibility and effectiveness that this entails, alluding to the more than 180 men and women who make up the Citizen Security Brigade “to whom I ask you to delve into work, awareness and teamwork. Public safety is a team effort.” “In me they will find a person who aspires to be an example of work, a manager concerned about the safety of the Cantabrians and also about the socio-working conditions of the police that guarantee that safety.”
To close the event, the Delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Mrs. Eugenia Gómez de Diego, welcomed the new Chief of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade, from which she highlighted “the experience, commitment and dedication that characterize it”. “His exemplary track record and in-depth knowledge of the field of citizen security are a guarantee that he will perform his new role with the excellence and effectiveness it requires,” he said.
The Delegate has also taken the opportunity to transmit to the Citizen Security Brigade, and to all the members of the National Police, the “recognition and gratitude” of the citizens of Cantabria “because their dedication and service are fundamental to guarantee security and their work of prevention and assistance in the most diverse actions is to be admired,” she said.
