The delegate of the Government, Adriana Lastra, has intervened in the institutional act for the Day of Hunosa that is celebrated every year at the International Fair of Samples of Asturias.
Lastra has valued “the exciting projects for the mining regions” that this year the public company exhibits in its pavilion and that according to the delegate of the Government represent “dynamism and economic growth, wealth and, above all, illusion areas where mining was everything”. He highlighted the transformation of the La Pereda thermal plant into a sustainable biomass plant and in which the Government of Spain invests 45 million euros or the project linked to the Pozo Fondón, which bets on green hydrogen and receives nine million euros of European funds for its development.
“Hunosa is one of the fundamental pillars of the energy transformation towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly model that”, Lastra recalled, “is one of the priorities of the Government of Spain”.
In this regard, he highlighted the role of the Institute for the Just Transition, which has allocated 80 million euros in aid so far this year for 74 business projects in Asturias and which will create 164 jobs. And he has claimed the role of the government presided over by Pedro Sánchez to “unblock” investments in the mining regions “after years with mining plans blocked”.
“I think we are in time for a fair transition,” said Lastra, “we talk about areas where there is a strong social identity and shared values that are not explained without reference to their industrial past and that will be strong again thanks to the support of the Government of Spain.”
Visit to other FIDMA exhibitors
In addition to participating in the Day of Hunosa, the Government delegate has visited other exhibitors of the International Fair of Samples of Asturias. In the installation of EdP, Pablo Argüelles, head of the Electricity Generation area at the company, has detailed the project of the hydrogen valley in Aboño. A month ago the Council of Ministers approved a direct grant of 78 million euros to promote this initiative that already adds 126 million euros in aid adding funds from the PERTE of renewable energies and the Innovation Fund of the European Union.
Lastra has also been in the spaces of the port authorities of Gijón and Avilés together with their presidents, Laureano Lourido and Santiago Rodríguez Vega, who have detailed the future projects of both infrastructures. In the speaker of the Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation, the president of the public body, Bárbara Monte, explained to the delegate of the Government the content of this year’s interactive exhibition, dedicated to spreading the importance of the conservation of rivers and their character as public goods.
Finally, the Minister of Ecological Transition, Industry and Economic Development of the Government of the Principality, Nieves Roqueñí, accompanied the Government delegate in the tour of the Regional Executive pavilion that this year is dedicated to the water cycle. Two weeks ago, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition allocated almost two million euros of the PERTE of digitization of the water cycle to Asturias to improve water management, reduce losses and ensure a sustainable supply for the future.
