The Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi España, has highlighted during the opening of the European Council of Languages the progress made by the Government of Spain to promote and protect the use of the co-official languages of the State.
The meeting, which has been attended by representatives of various ministries and the Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, is part of the supervision and evaluation carried out by this Committee of Experts of the ‘Report of compliance with the obligations assumed as a State party to the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages’, which the Government of Spain presented on August 3 for the period 2017-2021.
Arcadi Spain has highlighted “the richness of having a linguistic plurality for a country. The promotion of the co-official languages of the State is always done through dialogue with the autonomies and, in addition, we can now also use the resources provided by the new PERTE of the New Language Economy”, he stressed.
