Izquierdo stressed that “air connectivity is an essential element for the reconstruction of La Palma. The maintenance of the fee waiver not only favors the arrival of visitors, but has a direct effect on economic revival and job creation in all sectors of the island.”
The Commissioner also highlighted the “collaboration and sensitivity shown by AENA during these for La Palma”, thanking the commitment of the public entity. Since 2022, AENA has applied an incentive that involves the reimbursement of 100% of the passenger fare on flights departing from La Palma Airport to the Peninsula, the Balearic Islands or abroad. This has helped to promote air activity, facilitating the scheduling of routes and operations by companies.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo de La Palma, Raquel Rebollo, and the director of the Office of Presidency, Strategy and Public Policies of AENA, Ángel Luis Sanz and the deputy director of the Office of the Commissioner for Reconstruction, José Manuel Monge. It served to analyze the positive impact that the current incentives have had on the recovery of air traffic and island tourism.
Finally, Izquierdo reiterated his commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner with AENA, the Island Council and the Government of Spain, so that La Palma continues to move “towards an integral, sustainable and lasting recovery.”
