The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has today insisted on the need to combat the hate messages that try to criminalize migration, which he has described as “inadmissible”. It was after the meeting he had with representatives of the association Somos Refugio Hortaleza, which works with young people who arrived in Spain unaccompanied and who, after reaching the age of majority, are no longer under guardianship.
In this regard, it has urged the institutions to send “constructive messages” regarding the phenomenon of migration, since its contribution is necessary to strengthen the productive fabric and the Spanish economy.
The president and founder of the association, Emilia Lozano, and some of its members have called for an effort to streamline the processes of obtaining documentation, something with which the Government of Spain is committed, as Francisco Martín has pointed out.
After hearing the testimonies that reach the association of minors residing in reception centers in the Community of Madrid, the government delegate has asked the regional government to improve the conditions of the reception centers because it is “their obligation”.
About Somos Refugio
The association Somos Refugio Hortaleza helps young unaccompanied migrants and former guardians in a street situation to leave it through residential care as a way to prevent young people from staying in a street situation when the Public Prosecutor determines that they are older and have not been found an alternative resource.
This project aims to provide the children with the necessary means and tools so that they can develop and be part of society in their new adult life.
They have a project, the house of solidarity, which is a residential care resource that tries to provide children with the necessary means so that they can develop and be part of society in their new adult life.
