- The government delegate in Cantabria has participated in the inauguration of the reform of the headquarters of the Official College of Pharmacists
The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has transferred to the pharmacists of Cantabria the support of the Government of Spain to continue “looking to the future” as a “fundamental pillar” of the health system.
He pointed this out at the inauguration of the reform of the headquarters of the Official College of Pharmacists of Cantabria (COF), in Calle Castilla de Santander, where he accompanied the professional group headed by its president, María García del Hierro.
Casares has highlighted that the reform of the school headquarters makes the COF “a meeting point and a home” for pharmaceutical professionals but also represents a “greater opening to society” and marks a stage of “greater vocation for public service” and “commitment to continuous training and innovation”.
The representative of the State has highlighted the importance of the College of Pharmacists of Cantabria, which has 900 members who are its “fortress” and 278 pharmacies distributed by the autonomous community that make up “a network of protection” for citizens.
Casares has claimed pharmacists as “a fundamental pillar” of the healthcare system because they are the “first door to health” for Cantabrians and Spaniards.
“You are in every neighborhood and every town doing much more than dispensing medication. You are a voice that listens, attends, guides, cares and gives always truthful information to all the people who enter your pharmacies,” said the government delegate.
Therefore, he assured that all the institutions “are very proud of the work you do every day and of your vocation to continue looking to the future”.
“You can count on the Government of Spain to continue supporting your work with which you take care of something as precious as public health,” added Casares.
The president of the regional parliament, María José González Revuelta, and the honorary president of the COF and treasurer of the General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges, and the attendance of the general director of Pharmacy, María Isabel Priede, and other authorities have also participated in the event.
