The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has highlighted the continuous training of the Security Forces and Corps to improve citizen care and especially that given to vulnerable or disabled groups.
The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, thanked the involvement of companies and institutions in reducing road accidents in the workplace with his participation in the Circular Project of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), through its Provincial Headquarters, and the Cantabrian Institute of Safety and Health at Work.
Casares has participated in the act of delivery of the badges ‘Safety Road Work Cantabria 2025’ that recognize 24 companies and institutions that have implemented mobility plans with preventive measures against occupational traffic accidents.
“Your contribution to working for more and better road safety is essential for those of us who every day promote and implement measures to reduce accidents on our roads,” said the State representative.
Casares recalled that, so far this year, 16 people have died in traffic accidents in Cantabria and 2,705 accidents have been recorded that, in addition to the deaths, have caused 77 injuries with hospitalization and 1,309 mild.
“These are figures that we all want to reduce and, therefore, your collaboration as companies and institutions is so important, because a part of road accidents is also work”, he has indicated and affirmed that reducing these work traffic accidents is “a priority of the Government of Spain and the DGT”.
Casares has highlighted the Circula Project, which in Cantabria has already reached six editions and has been raised as “an exemplary initiative” and is an example of institutional collaboration between the DGT and the regional government.
The companies recognized in 2025 are ALSA and six companies of the group, ASEPEYO, Buses Benito, Boluda, CEOE-Cepyme, COPSESA, EDP, El Corte Inglés, Port Authority of Santander, ENSA, Aqualia, Reinosa Forgins & Castings, Construction Labor Foundation, Maderas José Sáinz, Quirón Prevention, Transportes Lasarte, UGT and ICASST.
Casares has presided over the act of handing over these recognitions together with the director of the ICASST, Ana González-Pescador, and the provincial head of Traffic, José Miguel Tolosa.
