The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has claimed that the community will receive in 2026 the “largest deliveries in its history”, 2,689 million euros, 8.27% more than in 2025, and to this will be added a “fiscal margin” of another 60 million euros between 2026 and 2028 to allocate to public services
“The Government of Spain is firmly committed to Cantabria,” Casares said this Tuesday in statements to the media, before which he has claimed the commitment of the Government to “the financial and economic sufficiency of the autonomous communities.”
Casares has assured that the increase in cash deliveries for 2026 is due, “to a large extent, to the good progress of the Spanish economy that is allowing us to collect more” and has indicated that, to this, the 2024 liquidation forecast, of 101 million for Cantabria, will be added.
Thus, as the Ministry of Finance has joined the CPFF, adding both concepts, Cantabria will receive in resources of the financing system 2,790 million euros in 2026, that is, 5% more than this year. “They represent an extraordinary income for the autonomous community,” added the government delegate.
He also indicated that, at the meeting on Monday, the Government of Spain presented the path of deficit and stability to the communities “where fundamentally the effort to reduce the deficit is assumed by the State and gives fiscal margin to the autonomous communities, which can close with -0.1%”.
At this point, the representative of the State in Cantabria explained that “this implies a fiscal margin of greater expenditure that the autonomous communities can do for the next three years (2026-2028)”, and that in the case of Cantabria they amount to 60 million euros (19 in 2026, 20 in 2027 and 21 in 2028).
“I sincerely believe that Cantabria must think and rethink the position it has. This is not about partisan interests, this is about Cantabria. If we think of Cantabria, the numbers presented yesterday by the Ministry of Finance are good: the largest regional financing in the history of Cantabria with these record accounts and with more fiscal margin that will allow investment in public services, which I believe is a priority in the autonomous community,” said Casares.
