The Government of Spain has already ordered the payment of more than 1,531 million euros in the accounts of the municipalities affected by DANA included in the annex of Royal Decree Law 6/2024.
Thus, of the 1,745 million euros that the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory activated on January 28 to finance all the works of repair, restitution or reconstruction of infrastructure, equipment or municipal facilities and services, the payment of more than 1,531 million euros for 60 consistories has already been accepted, that is, the payment of 88% of the amount destined for this purpose has been accepted.
In the next few days, the entry into the current accounts of the other municipalities included in the RDL will be completed, reaching 1,745 million euros committed to address up to 500 interventions, which include the repair of fundamental infrastructures to return normality to the affected municipalities, such as children's schools, markets and markets, social centers, sports facilities, etc.
The Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spain, said this morning from Valencia that “the Government of Spain is giving a historical response to the consequences of the terrible DANA of October 29”. “As announced by President Pedro Sánchez, the government has mobilized 16.6 billion euros after the DANA, and 1,745 million are for the full recovery of municipal infrastructures, which will return normality to the affected populations,” said the SE, which also recalled that “the costs of these repairs are being entered in record time and in advance in the accounts of the municipalities.”
Technical conference
This morning, Arcadi Spain opened a working day with the municipalities affected by the DANA in the Subdelegation of the Government in Valencia to inform them of the technical aspects of the call for aid for the reconstruction of municipal infrastructures, as well as the steps to follow after the acceptance by the consistories of the subsidies.
“We want to facilitate procedures to get the works up and running as soon as possible, with three key innovations: the advance of 100% of repair costs, the possibility of relocating infrastructures in safer municipal plots and including improvements that increase their resistance to climate change,” said Spain.
“The Government of Spain constantly keeps open the channels of dialogue and collaboration with all the municipalities that have seen their infrastructures destroyed,” insisted Spain, who concluded that “the priority from the first minute of the Government of Spain is to be together with the councils and the citizens affected, and with that road map we will continue working until we achieve an improved normality throughout the territory.”
