The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has met with the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), headed by its president, María José García-Pelayo.
Ángel Víctor Torres considered the meeting “very productive”, thanked the “good tone and willingness of the FEMP and its president” and conveyed his commitment “so that before the summer a National Commission of Local Administration (CNAL) will be held to address issues such as account deliveries and the liquidation of 2022”, he said, “with 22% more resources for local entities”.
The minister has highlighted progress in recent months, such as “the possibility that there are new municipalities with 4,000 inhabitants, the updating and digitization of the register so that they offer data in real time or respond to the need for interveners and representatives in the less populated municipalities, which are the ones that have the most problems to have national qualifications”.
The minister also stressed “the need to update the Law Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, as well as local financing, which will go hand in hand with regional financing, issues that require the consensus of the main political parties.”
