The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has defended in Congress the development of the Democratic Memory Law: “After a year of hardship, you have my commitment that we will move forward with the Law.”
The minister explained that the State Attorney has already presented the pertinent allegations requesting that the lifting of the precautionary measure adopted on December 14 by the Central Court of Administrative Litigation Nº 11 of Madrid be agreed for the suspension by National Heritage of the execution of exhumations in Cuelgamuros.
The allegations detail that the work focuses on the Chapel of the Sepulchre and that there is no problem with the remains of people such as the family member of the appellant, who are located elsewhere and duly identified. It is stated that it has been attested that these are different chapels, without having accessed the Chapel of the Pillar and its crypts. In addition, the forensic team has no plans to carry out any forensic operation at the level of the Chapel of the Pillar where the remains of the recurrent grandmother are located.
However, it is stated that the paralysis does imply a serious disturbance of the general and family interests of the people buried in the Cuelgamuros Valley who wish to recover the mortal remains of these, and who assist in judicial and administrative recognition of their right to recover the remains of their relatives and the general interest consisting in the fact that the crypts are in adequate conditions of dignity and respect; interests that in both cases are unduly harmed by the order appealed.
