The Minister of Territorial Policy and spokeswoman for the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, on International Women’s Day, wanted to reclaim on a day like today “the work of a feminist Government that has made us all advance in rights and freedoms.” At the same time, she wanted to show some words of recognition “to the feminist movement, to women who live worse in other parts of the world”.
Isabel Rodríguez, who visited Fuenlabrada (Madrid) today, accompanied the mayor, Javier Ayala, to the March for Equality, which is one of the central events of International Women’s Day in the municipality, and where more than 11,000 women from the town have participated.
“Thank you Fuenlabrada for being a pioneer in equality policies at the municipal level. I would like to congratulate all the social entities that have taken the initiative so that this municipality is the image of equality from the City Councils, from the Municipal Policy”, he acknowledged.
The minister wanted to thank them for the invitation to the event and expressed her gratitude “to all the older women who accompany us. Thanks to you we are here, thanks to your effort, work and struggle today we have it easier”.
The spokeswoman has highlighted the work done by the Government, in favor of advances and women’s rights, because “we think of all of you. We work to improve your working conditions, to improve your contracts, so that we can be mothers without giving up our professional career, so that we can take care of our daughters and sons and so that we can reach where they arrive”, he said.
The minister wanted to thank Mayor Fuenlabrada for the work he is doing: “Thank you for taking on the feelings of the women in your city and leading this march to continue moving forward.”
On the other hand, and coinciding with the 8M, Isabel Rodríguez wanted to share with Javier Ayala the role of women in local corporations, where their presence has been multiplied tenfold since the beginning of democracy, a data that has been obtained thanks to a study by the Ministry of Territorial Policy.
