The Minister of Territorial Policy and Government Spokeswoman, Isabel Rodríguez, highlighted in Segovia the commitment of her City Council to sustainable mobility in the city and in its connections with other cities. He has also known today that travelling to Madrid, with free rail transport or subsidising 50%, “can cost the same as a metro ticket in the capital, as the councillors tell me, a commitment to sustainable mobility that benefits many young people who will continue to live in their city instead of moving to live in Madrid”.
Isabel Rodríguez, who met today in Segovia with her mayor, Clara Martín, and the municipal government team, to learn about the projects financed with European funds, explained that the recovery funds are being successfully used in the city thanks to the initiative of her City Council “to get funds that will transform mobility in its streets and a time of opportunity, with a planning that bets on an industry that generates income and gives employment to many people. It is committed to tourism and industrial diversification, with the support of the Government of Spain.”
The minister stressed that, in order to achieve industrial transformation, it is necessary to have the necessary human capital: “It is going to be achieved with the Vocational Training center, which is going to be a reference in our country and responds to the Government’s policy to locate public agencies in the territory.”
Isabel Rodríguez stressed that, after the difficult years experienced, 2022 ended well, with a 5.5% growth in GDP: “The data shows that the action of the Government and business activity, despite the difficulties, have been positive for the country, in addition to having managed to place inflation in the lowest area of the countries around us and maintaining employment.”
In this regard, he pointed out that “in the first year of the labor reform in Spain, quality employment has been created, we have raised the Interprofessional Minimum Wage without destroying jobs and without abandoning social policy. More than 600,000 pensioners in Castilla y León will see their pension increased this month by 100 euros, 1,400 euros per year, which will favor consumption and economic activity. We have gone to an increase of 100 euros, which gives to pay an electric bill, compared to the increase with the previous government, which would be 2 euros, which would pay for one day’s bread.”
Isabel Rodríguez has congratulated the mayor for her work and for leading the strategy of change and transformation in her city to improve people’s lives.
