After a secret and unanimous vote of the Assembly of this institution of recent creation in the islands, the new member has been, Héctor Izquierdo Triana, becoming the next academic of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of the Canary Islands.
Institution that promotes research and the practice of law, formed by magistrates and jurists of recognized prestige.
Appreciating the work that the Commissioner, Héctor Izquierdo, has done to establish a legal framework for the Reconstruction of the island of La Palma due to the volcanic eruption of the Old Summit (Tajogaite), basing his candidacy on his training as a lawyer and Doctor in Economic and Business Sciences, and on his professional career in more than twenty countries.
The Commissioner said “during the volcanic eruption we had to establish a flexible but guaranteed system” “A challenge that today serves as a model for future natural disasters focused on maintaining the balance between the speed necessary for recovery and the guarantee of legal rights and procedures”
Respecting the rights of those affected to information and participation in the reconstruction plans and their guarantees in terms of expropriation and social protection, working and collaborating with the different competent administrations in the different areas.
In this legal meeting that took place in the Royal Cosmological Society (site unmatched by its high cultural content and beauty) of Santa Cruz de La Palma, the presence of Alfonso Cavallé, Dean of the Notarial College of the Canary Islands, Juan Antonio Rodríguez, President of the Canary Council of Bar Associations, among others, was counted.
