The STARMUS 2025 festival begins at the camp in Santa Cruz de La Palma and Los Llanos de Aridane, with a large participation of students. Starting from the 25th to the 28th of April, transforming La Palma into the global core of science and music. Subsequently, a press conference was held with different scientific and cultural authorities, Sergio Rodríguez, President of the Cabildo de La Palma, Héctor Izquierdo, Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of La Palma, Migdalia Machín, Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Garik Israelian, co-founder and director of STARMUS, Antonia Varela, Director of the Starlight Foundation.
Among other statements about the STARMUS festival, the following stand out: Sergio Rodríguez, President of the Cabildo de La Palma, highlighted the importance of the festival for the island: “STARMUS symbolizes our resilience and resilience. Héctor Izquierdo, Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of the Island of La Palma, said that “positioning La Palma as ‘the Island of Science’ gives us a competitive advantage as it is a unique scenario in which the study of sky, land and sea converge: astronomy from the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory, the vulcanological investigations derived from the Tajogaite eruption and the blue economy developments that Plocan carries out in Tazacorte. The goal is for a significant portion of the island’s GDP to be linked to exploiting its scientific potential, making it an unbeatable location for STARMUS.”
