The Sol La Palma hotel has reopened its doors, the first week with 60% occupancy, since the interruption of its function, caused by the eruption of the Tajogaite, with 473 rooms.
The President of the Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, said that the opening of the hotel, and the commercial establishments in Puerto Naos means “an acceleration of the pace of recovery and return to normality always based on the information provided by the gas sensors.”
The Hotel Sol Meliá has 13 volcanic gas sensors indoors and another 2 outdoors, which are part of the network of more than 1100 stations of the CO2 Alert project, in charge of measuring the concentrations of this and other gases.
It can be said that it is an undoubted symptom of Reconstruction and therefore recovery throughout the island, it is worth highlighting the strengthening of the tourism sector and consequently in the employment plan for La Palma, as for example, in the case of the hotel, with the incorporation of 85% of the staff, thus lowering the numbers of people in ERTE, leaving less than 200.
The Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of the island of La Palma, Héctor Izuierdo Triana said that "Partial ERTES are allowed in a company"
Favoring in this way to be able to hire according to the increase of the activity.
