The Council of Ministers has approved a Royal Decree-Law that includes the extension of the suspension of payment of mortgage and non-mortgage loans for those affected by the volcano of La Palma, in order to ensure that families have sufficient liquidity to meet the needs derived from the rehousing and repair of the damages caused by the eruption.
This measure is intended to provide a solution to the liquidity needs, for example, of those affected by the sealing of the neighborhoods of Puerto Naos and La Bombilla as a result of the toxic gases generated by the eruption of the volcano. Many of them did not apply for the moratorium because then it was estimated that their situation would not extend over time but, after a year away from home, some neighbors have requested relief from their financial burdens. In the same way, other people who already enjoy this suspension continue to need to limit their financial burdens to meet the costs of rehousing or repairing their property. Therefore, with the measure included today in this Royal Decree-Law, it responds to these situations of urgent need, reinforcing the protection offered by the Government of Spain to palm trees and palm trees since the eruption of the volcano.
