The council of Grau/Grado, in Asturias, has celebrated these days the third edition of the days of Democratic Memory "Truth, Justice and Reparation". During the week, three days dedicated to these three great principles of international humanitarian law have been held. Accompanied by Begoña Collado, Director General of Democratic Memory of the Principality, Fernando Martínez insisted during his conference on the importance of the law of Democratic Memory, structured precisely around these great humanitarian principles. He highlighted the central role of the "victims" in the Law and in the public policies of memory developed by the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory.
On Saturday afternoon, the institutional event of the Day of Democratic Memory of Asturias was held in the Chapel of the Pains of Grau/Grade, with the assistance of Adrián Barbón, president of the Principality. During the ceremony, diplomas were awarded for the annulment of sanctions and recognition of the 54 political positions and public employees who were repressed during the civil war and the dictatorship. During the ceremony, the president highlighted, among the priorities of his government for this legislature, the creation of the Institute of Democratic Memory and the Council of Memory, in addition to the elaboration of the Catalogue of Places of Memory.
At the closing of the photographic exhibition on Memory in Grau/Grade that accompanied the celebration of these Days, the Secretary of State highlighted the words of Walter Benjamin, present in the exhibition, "It is a more arduous task to honor the memory of anonymous beings than that of famous people."
