The Official State Gazette of today, August 22, publishes the announcement of the call for grants for the year 2023 for projects and actions of Democratic Memory. As of tomorrow, the entities interested in participating have within fifteen working days to submit the corresponding applications.
These grants, promoted by the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, have a global budget of 895,000 euros and are aimed at associations, foundations and other private non-profit entities, as well as universities and public research bodies.
The call establishes three lines of aid, taking into account the characteristics of the projects or initiatives that can be subsidized:
− Studies and research related to the recovery of the Democratic Memory, as well as the moral recognition of the victims of the Civil War and the Dictatorship, for which grants up to a maximum of 12,000 euros each will be eligible.
-Publications and organization of courses, conferences, exhibitions and other scientific and/or informative events on Democratic Memory. In these cases, each individual aid may amount to 5,000 euros.
− The collection, preservation, study and dissemination of the written, oral, audiovisual (photographs, posters, sound recordings, films…) or intellectual (artistic, musical, literary manifestations…), of the Civil War and/or of the Dictatorship. Each project will be eligible for grants of up to 10,000 euros.
The budget will be divided between the three lines of aid, with up to 480,000 euros for study and research projects; up to 180,000 euros for publishing activities and organization of courses; and up to 235,000 euros for heritage collection activities.
The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis and the criteria for evaluating the applications include the technical quality of the projects submitted, their dissemination and collaboration with other entities, as well as the impact of the project on society and the special attention to the Democratic Memory of Women. In addition, they will be compatible with other aid, coming from public bodies or institutions for the same activity, provided that the sum of all aid does not exceed the cost of the subsidized activity.
