The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, has highlighted the excellent bilateral relationship between the two countries, initialled in the signing of agreements in areas such as cybersecurity, film and audiovisual cooperation and democratic memory. In this context, the Secretariat of State for Democratic Memory and the Museum of Memory and Human Rights of Chile have formalized their desire to establish cooperative relations in matters of memory with the signing of a collaboration agreement. This will facilitate the exchange of information and experiences along with the generation and development of actions aimed at the dissemination of democratic and cultural memory, academic research, promotion of respect for human rights and democratic values, dialogue, culture of peace and other matters of common interest.
For Fernando Martínez, "with the signing of this agreement we intend to establish close cooperation relations with the Museum of Memory and Human Rights of Chile that help us mutually promote public memory policies based on the shared experiences of both countries."
This cooperation will have as a priority the exchange of good practices within the framework of the great universal paradigms of Truth, Justice, Reparation and guarantee of non-repetition, as well as in the creation and pedagogy of places of memory.
The protocol will generate different activities on democratic memory, education and reconstruction of social tissues, organization of exhibitions, academic activities and exchange of different materials of an editorial and audiovisual nature.
With the signing of this collaboration agreement, a further step is taken in the commitment of the Government of Spain to the public policies of Memory as an element of universal impulse to the globalization of memory processes.
