The average foreign affiliation to Social Security in the Community of Madrid has reached 627,286 contributors in the Community of Madrid, according to data published today by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, corresponding to the month of November.
The figures represent an increase of 1.26% compared to the month of October after adding 7,783 affiliates from other countries in the last month. As for the year-on-year evolution, it represents a growth of 4.23% with 7,783 new foreign contributors in the last year.
87.47% of foreign workers make their contribution to the General System while 12.52% are self-employed. By sector, the activities with the highest representation are Hospitality (14.16%); Commerce (13.59%); Administrative Activities and Auxiliary Services (13.27%); Construction (10.32%) and Transport and Storage (6.96%). In addition, they gain weight in sectors with more added value such as Information and Communications (6.19%); Professional and Scientific-Technical Activities (6.16%) or Health Activities and Central Services.
By country of origin, 30.91% belong to the European Union (EU), while 69.08% are non-EU. Among the countries outside the EU that contribute the most workers are Venezuela (75,062); Colombia (56,509); Peru (37,384); China (32,824) and Morocco (31,458).
They represent 14.1% of the system’s membership pool
In the national group, foreign affiliates account for 14.1% of contributors, 0.61% more than in November 2024. In this last year, Asturias (22.1%), Galicia (15.2%) and Extremadura (14.9%) lead the growth. They are autonomous communities in which the percentage of foreign affiliates over the total is well below the average. In Asturias, they are 7.4% of the contributors; 7.1% in Galicia and 5.2% in Extremadura.
Thus, Social Security registered 3,122,003 foreign affiliates in November if the calendar effect is discounted, after adding more than 200,000 in the last year (210,941), which represents an increase of 7.2% in year-on-year variation. In the last month, 21,000 people have been employed.
In the average affiliation series, the number of workers from other countries is 3,085,442, which implies a growth of +7.3% year-on-year. They are almost five points above the total membership, which has seen an increase of +2.5% in the last year.
By affiliation regime, the record growth of foreign self-employed workers stands out. The affiliation of self-employed workers from other countries is approaching half a million in November and exceeds a new maximum. There are 495,635 entrepreneurs, 6.4% more than a year ago. Its growth is well above the average of the group of self-employed, whose growth has been 1.2%. This increase is even more relevant in highly qualified sectors. In the last year, the number of foreign self-employed workers has increased by 26.4% in Information and Communications, in Energy Supply, 21%, 19% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities and 14.6% in Financial and Insurance Activities.
As for the country of origin, it should be noted that the evolution in the number of workers from Venezuela is the one that has grown the most in the last 12 months, with 42,178 more average affiliates. It is followed by Colombia (29,771) and Morocco (28,028).
