The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, carried out on Tuesday institutional visits to Pezuela de las Torres and Olmeda de las Fuentes to know first-hand the needs and projects of these two municipalities located in the Alcarria of Madrid.
The first stop has been in Pezuela de las Torres where the delegate has held a meeting with the mayor, José Pío Carmena Servert. During the event, they have been able to follow up on some of the issues addressed at the last Local Security Board held last June, such as the evolution of security in the municipality; the promotion of communications with the Tajo Hydrographic Confederation or the municipal participation in photovoltaic plant projects. In addition, they have commented on the new General Plan of Urbanism; the application of the regulations on waste and the competences and resources of the new Courts of Peace.
Then, during a tour of the municipality, the delegate has known the recent actions of improvement in the channeling, paving and recovery of the local heritage undertaken in the neighborhoods of Padrillo and Olmeda and in Calle Mayor norte. Another stop has been the La Posada Cultural Center, a focal point of the social and cultural life of Pezuela de las Torres.
The delegate has continued his agenda with his visit to Olmeda de las Fuentes where he has also been received by his mayor, María Victoria Roldán Prieto. Both have held a meeting in which they have commented on different issues of interest to the more than 400 Olmedeños and Olmedeñas who currently reside in the municipality.
After the meeting they have toured some of the most emblematic points of Olmeda de las Fuentes nicknamed as "village of painters" for its rich cultural life and also recognized for its characteristic architecture of white houses.
This heritage is further highlighted by the recent replacement of street lighting with LED luminaires, a project financed by the European Next Generation funds through the IDAE for the renovation of street lighting, within the DUS 5000 aid programme aimed at investments for unique clean energy projects in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
