- After the meetings held this week with the Superior Prosecutor’s Office of the Community of Madrid and the coordinator of the Bróders project, an online platform aimed at children from 14 to 19 years old
Strengthening digital and affective sexual education is key to combating sexual violence in minors, a group that has focused the two meetings held this week in the Delegation of the Government of Madrid with the Superior Prosecutor’s Office in the Community of Madrid and those responsible for the Bróders project to analyze the problem in the region.
This was evident in the meeting held on Tuesday between the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre; the head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence on Women of the Delegation, Eva Corrales Melero; the Superior Prosecutor of the Community of Madrid, Almudena Lastra de Inés; and the Delegate Prosecutor for Violence on Women of the Provincial Prosecutor of Madrid, María José Campos Buce.
In its annual report for 2024, published in September, the Madrid Public Prosecutor’s Office shared its concern about the rising trend in complaints of crimes against sexual freedom committed by minors. In this regard, proceedings for sexual assault increased by 30.8% to a total of 591; although they decreased by 39.9% for sexual abuse, to a total of 86.
In this context, both institutions stressed the importance of promoting measures that provide minors with knowledge and tools for the proper management of their affective and sexual relationships, with special attention to the digital environment that has favored risky behaviors such as early access to pornography.
Broders, online platform to neutralize the “manosphere”
With the aim of providing tools to young children, the project emerges Broders promoted by the Social Initiative Foundation. To learn about this initiative, Francisco Martín Aguirre received today Thursday the psychologist expert in masculinities and coordinator of the project, Jesús Moreno Pizarro.
Bróders is aimed at children between 14 and 19 years old, offering them a forum to ask and discuss, a chat with trained volunteer specialists to offer support, the possibility of requesting appointments with professionals to receive guidance, as well as videos and texts on different topics that may generate concerns. In this way, the platform aims to neutralize the harmful effects of the growing network of online communities that promote misogyny, known as “manosphere.”
Institutional commitment
These meetings are part of the meetings promoted since 2024 by the government delegate with the aim of strengthening institutional and multisectoral collaboration in the face of a problem such as sexual violence, which requires a broader look and improved results.
So far in October, the government delegate has also held meetings with representatives of the trade unions CCOO and UGT; the Ombudsman; the National Office against Sexual Violence (ONVIOS); the General Labour Inspectorate of Madrid; the Committee of Entities Representing Persons with Disabilities of the Community of Madrid (CERMI) and the expert on violence in the digital environment, Elisa García Mingo.
During 2025, 24 meetings were held with representatives of institutions, professional associations, business associations, professional organizations and political formations, as well as specialized units of the National Police (UFAM) and Civil Guard (EMUME).
