The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has presided over the minute of silence called at the headquarters of the Government Delegation in condemnation of the two machista murders of Tarragona and Catarroja, latest cases confirmed by the Government Delegation against gender violence.
“Gender violence is a violence that represents a male terrorism against women, a violence that it is essential to point it out and not deny it, in addition to fighting it from all areas,” said Bernabé. The delegate added that “these dates are complicated and complex in which feminicides also have greater intensity”. Therefore, he has made “an appeal to society that on these upcoming holiday dates all of us should be part of that great violet point that should be the whole of society as a whole.” “The fight against male violence is a matter for everyone, for all administrations, for all political forces and also for society,” he added. According to Bernabé, the State Security Forces and Corps protect in the Valencian Community more than 17,000 women who are in the VioGén system. “During these weeks both the National Police and the Civil Guard are also intensifying their work with the women who are in this system,” the delegate concluded.
With the woman murdered in Catarroja, four women and a child have been the mortal victims of male violence in the Valencian Community so far this year. 47 women have been murdered in Spain so far in 2025. Today’s event began with Barnabas reading an institutional statement against gender violence.
