The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, who has presided together with the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, the recognitions Meninas 2024 and Meninas 2025, has pointed out that “the Government will not go back a single step in the defense of equality and the fight against gender violence”. The Meninas recognitions show that “the commitment of the Government of Spain to women is more resistant than any emergency”. “Equality and the fight against gender violence is a State pact and no emergency – climate, political or social – will take us away from this path,” he added.
The Meninas 2025 show that “even when everything breaks down and life stops, the fight against gender violence advances and never stops,” said Barnabas. The delegate praised “the work of all those who protected women and children, victims of gender violence, in times as difficult as those of the dana”. The awards of 2024 represent “the strength of a commitment that comes from far away with three fundamental pillars: specialized and sensitive justice, police protection and a community and media feminism that builds social awareness.”
But, “in the face of the pact that protects women’s lives and defends their freedom, there is a threat: speeches that try to weaken or minimize it.” Speeches, Bernabé said, “that deny the existence of gender violence, poisoned words that sow dangerous doubts and question one’s own concept.”
The Government Delegation has presented this afternoon at the Bancaja de València Foundation the recognitions Meninas 2024 and 2025. This gala is part of the commemorative activities, promoted by the Government of Spain, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated on November 25.
