- The actions with which to improve the situation of the districts “are the result of consensus”, said the delegate
- The MITECO plan has an initial investment of 530 million euros
The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé; the special commissioner for the Reconstruction and Repair of the damages caused by the dana, Zulima Pérez; and the representative of the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar (CHJ), Teodoro Estrela, have met with neighbors of the districts of La Torre, Hora de Alcedo and Castellar-Oliveral to report on the actions in the Plan to improve resilience against floods in the territory affected by the dana, which has an initial investment of 530 million euros.
As the delegate pointed out, the work with which to improve the resilience of the southern districts is “the result of the consensus” of all the administrations involved. Thus, among other actions, yesterday the tender was approved for 3.8 million euros for the drafting of ten constructive projects to reduce the risk of flooding, with actions that contemplate the diversion to the new Turia river and actions to protect the districts of València. In these new projects are also the performances in the ravines of La Saleta and Poyo. These works are complementary to the emergency works developed by the CHJ.
Among the actions contemplated in the Plan, which will reduce the risk of flooding in the districts, is the improvement of the drainage of the linear transport infrastructures (railway, metro, etc.) to avoid an overelevation that leads to flooding. In addition, on these tracks, longitudinal pipes will be placed towards the new Turia riverbed to drain these waters.
The Plan for Improving the Flood Resilience of the Dana-Affected Territory is an initiative of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, designed with scientific basis and institutional participation and which includes regulatory reforms, a new risk mapping, nature-based solutions and structural hydraulic actions.
