The delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visited today, together with the mayor of Carcaixent, Carolina Almiñana, the areas most affected by the storm caused by the dana Alice in this municipality. In Carcaixent, “one of the most affected areas of La Ribera”, the delegate has recommended “caution” and “follow the evolution of the storm through the official channels”.
“We are in a climate emergency situation,” said Bernabé. And in the face of this, “a pact of all political forces is needed, but also a social pact and of all citizens.” “It requires, a State pact for the climate emergency, an agreement that is essential and necessary,” he added.
To this emergency situation “as a result of climate change”, “citizens must be confronted with the best tools and with a clear and decisive commitment on the part of all administrations regardless of political colors”. Therefore, “there is another vital issue, and that is that we must move away from negationism.
“Negationism kills,” he added, “and we know, on this earth better than anywhere else, which means not betting on all responsible policies of prevention and common and coordinated work.”
The delegate has previously visited Aldaia with the mayor, Guillermo Luján, “to know first-hand” the consequences of the rains, where she recalled that from the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar (CHJ) about 90 M€ are going to be invested for the detour of the Saleta ravine.
