- The government delegate in Cantabria received on Thursday the student agents and instructors of the Mountain Specific Training Center of the Civil Guard of Jaca.
The Civil Guard trains these days in Cantabria the future specialists of the Rescue and Intervention Groups in Mountains (GREIM) with crossings, routes and speleology exercises in caves that are being carried out from last Monday and until this Friday, November 7, in the municipality of Ramales de la Victoria.
On the occasion of his stay in the community for the realization of these practices, the government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, received this Thursday the 11 student agents, two of them international –Portugal and Andorra–, as well as their instructors from the Mountain Specific Training Center of the Civil Guard of Jaca.
Together with the head of the Civil Guard of Cantabria, Lieutenant Colonel Julio Postigo, Casares has been interested in the activities that they are developing in the region during this week and that are framed in the practices of the Mountain Specialist Course that is “one of the most demanding and specialized” of the body.
During these days, they carry out in the area of Ramales de la Victoria, which is “reference” in mountain activities and especially speleology, the Rubicera-Mortero crossing, an exercise in the Tonio mountain range and another of speleology in Cuevamur.
These practices are part of this course to specialize Civil Guard agents in mountain interventions and in which agents are prepared for nine months to “be prepared for all types of interventions both in mountains, ravines and caves.
The government delegate has conveyed to the student agents and their instructors the gratitude of the society of Spain and Cantabria for their “work so specialized that they develop to guarantee the safety of citizens in any circumstance”.
“The entire Civil Guard does an extraordinary job and in your case with a high specialization. You are an example of true public service,” said the State representative.
