The Government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, and the Government subdelegate in Las Palmas, Teresa Mayans, have today presented the pre-franked children’s postcards that the Government Delegation has made so that the children of the archipelago can send by mail their messages for gender equality and against violence against women.
As part of the activities organized on the occasion of the 25th International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, through its Units against Violence against Women, has distributed some 4,000 postcards through the Primary Education Centers of the Canary Islands decorated with the winning drawings for each island of the Canary Islands. Canary Islands Pictorial Competition for Gender Equality which is convened annually by the Government Delegation.
Accompanied by the Mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, and the Councilor for Equality, Olga Cáceres, Anselmo Pestana and Teresa Mayans have visited today the CEIP Tajinaste of the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, where the winning student for the island of Gran Canaria of 2024 studies, and where they have highlighted the importance of this initiative, which also has the collaboration of Correos, and which seeks to transform gender equality into a real message, within the rejection of any type of violence against women.
“We try to involve the entire educational community in applying the value of equality as a fundamental value, especially for girls and boys who are going to form the society of the future,” said the government delegate in the Canary Islands.
This Tuesday the island director of the General Administration of the State in Fuerteventura, María Jesús de la Cruz, has delivered postcards at the CEIP Tostón de El Cotillo, which was the winner in 2024 of the Canary Islands Pictorial Competition for Gender Equality.
