The Government Delegation in the Canary Islands has published today the fifth episode of What do you know about gender-based violence?, the new audiovisual campaign to inform and raise awareness of this social scourge launched by the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, through its Coordination Unit against Violence against Women.
In the fifth of the seven chapters that make up this series, the head of the Service against Violence against Women of the Delegation of the Government in the Canary Islands, Evelia Déniz, and the journalist David Perdomo go out on the street in Fuerteventura to check the degree of knowledge of the citizens about the various public resources of assistance to the victims of gender violence and their daughters and sons that exist in our country.
Specifically, the people interviewed in the center of Puerto del Rosario are asked, among others, about resources such as Atenpro, the Telephone Service of Attention and Protection for victims of violence against women; WRAP, the web of resources for support and prevention in cases of gender violence; o the VioGén System, the Comprehensive Monitoring System in Cases of Gender Violence.
Evelia Déniz recounts that more than one of the answers received in the majorera capital brought them a smile: “Some of the interviewees and interviewees had never heard any of the acronyms, and they have given us very curious and striking answers.”
In addition to clarifying all the doubts that are being raised, the head of the Service against Violence against Women of the Delegation of the Government of the Canary Islands also takes the opportunity to remember the campaign promoted in 2021 by the Delegation of the Government in the Islands, The circle that protects you, which explains in a simple and direct way the circle of resources of which the Administrations are part to protect the victims of gender violence and report cases.
For her part, the island director of the General Administration of the State in Fuerteventura, María Jesús del Cruz, highlights in this episode the need to continue to publicize all the options available to women suffering from male violence: “Resources have improved and it is important to maintain this support of administrations and citizens so that women feel supported; the involvement of the whole society is fundamental.”
