The Government of Spain and the Canary Islands have held today in the Subdelegation of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife a new meeting of the Advisory Council for the Strategic and Commercial Promotion of the Canary Islands (CAPECC), presided over by the Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López Senovilla, and the Vice-President and Minister of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez González. The objective is to promote the internationalization of the Canarian economy, support the expansion of Canarian companies to international markets and attract foreign investment to the region.
To this end, the Government of Spain has approved at the last Council of Ministers a grant of 500,000 euros to the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Government of the Canary Islands to finance actions that enhance the international projection of the archipelago within the Strategy of Internationalization of the Canary Islands Government during 2026.
This aid, which is channelled through the Secretary of State for Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, will promote the internationalization of the local economy and promote Canarian exports, project Canarian companies abroad and attract investment to the archipelago.
The Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López Senovilla, stressed that “this forum will contribute to generating new opportunities and strengthening the role of the Canary Islands in international trade. The Government of Spain is committed to supporting internationalization as a lever for growth and has allocated 4.5 million euros to the Canary Islands since 2018 to enhance the international presence of the archipelago and its companies.”
For his part, the Vice-President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Government, Manuel Domínguez, thanked on Wednesday the decision of the Council of Ministers to grant 500,000 euros for the promotion of internationalization that “join the 9 million euros that the Canary Islands executive already allocates to the internationalization of the economy of the islands”.
In addition, during the meeting there was a dialogue on how to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that are opening up for the future of the Canary Islands. The deputy delegate of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, pointed out that “Each of the present administrations provides, from the scope of its competences, concrete solutions to promote the internationalization of Canary Island companies and face the challenges. From the Delegation of the Government in the Canary Islands we contribute to the objectives of this forum, fundamentally, through the management of aid for the transport of goods, which allows to improve the competitiveness of Canarian exporting companies.”
